David Awards 2008: nominations for Noce and Rossi Print E-mail
Thursday, 20 March 2008

Adil and Yusuf Emanuela Rossi and Claudio Noce, who are both among the most recent and surprising Italian talents discovered by ARCIPELAGO, succeeded in passing the selection process for the David di Donatello Awards 2008. Unveiled today in Rome, where the awarding ceremony will take place next April 18, the nominations to the prestigious "Italian Oscar" indeed include - in the Short Films category - Il bambino di Carla (Carla's Child), which premiered at ARCIPELAGO 2007 and won the ConCorto National Competition, and Adil e Yusuf (Adil and Yusuf), only Italian film selected in the Corto Cortissimo Short Films Competition at the last Venice Film Festival.

Along with the other three nominated shorts - Ora che Marlene (Now that Marlene) by Giovanna N. Silvestri, Tramondo by Giacomo Agnetti and Davide Bazzali, and Alessandro Celli's Uova (Scrambled) - Rossi and Noce's short films have definitely emerged among 140 works submitted to the selection committee, composed by Andrea Piersanti, Francesca Calvelli, Enzo Decaro, Paolo Fondato, Enrico Magrelli, Mario Mazzetti and Paolo Mereghetti.

Already David-awarded in 2005 for Aria (Breathe), which won in the same year at ARCIPELAGO and at various Italian and international festivals, Claudio Noce is currently preparing his first feature film, Good Morning, Aman, based on a story by Elisa Amoruso and written with Heidrun Schleef and Diego Ribon. Dodo Fiori's DNA is going to produce it, just like Adil e Yusuf.

Carla's ChildTv screenwriter at her first film direction, with Il bambino di Carla Emanuela Rossi has just won the Silver Ribbon Award for Best First Film last December. Her next project, a pretty ambitious one, is Lacrime nere (Black Tears), a new short film for which she's looking for a brave producer.

Whoever will win the David Award next April, we hope this nomination will help them both to realize their future projects. ARCIPELAGO wishes you good luck!
