After about ten years in our small but nice office at Clivo di Monte del Gallo, two steps away from St. Peter Square, ARCIPELAGO has found a new "home", a bit larger and more comfortable.
As of January 7, the Festival office has indeed moved a few kilometers more south, to Viale dei Colli Portuensi. Closer to Fiumicino airport (and to the seaside, as well!) than to downtown. Well, that's what it looks like to us, at least...
Managed and completed right in the middle of Christmas holidays (by the way: best wishes and happy 2008 everybody!), the office removal implied several difficulties, whose main consequence is the one-month delay - comparing with its usual dates - in releasing our Festival Call for entries 2008, wich is about to be diffused in the next few days. Of course, the submissions deadline will slide more or less proportionally (it's March 3, this year), while the Festival dates were already set for June 13-19 -- and this means one thing only: we'll have to work harder than usual. Unfortunately (and we apologise in advance for this), we'll be also forced to be stricter in asking you to respect the various deadlines.
Besides some works still in progress inside our new office, one more big problem we're facing in these days concerns our communications with the external world, which currently are pretty inexistent, due to some technical issues on our new Internet connection. Our ISP is trying to fix all this - even though not exactly as fast as we would like, apparently - and we expect to get back on the Net as soon as possible. But its quite likely that in the next few days we might still have problems in answering to incoming e-mails as well as in diffusing our new contact details through our mailing list. We do apologise for this inconvenience, which certainly is however reciprocal.
On the other hand - and this is the good news - around mid-January we are going to release a new version of ARCIPELAGO website. Much more complete and functional than it was in the past, and also more frequently and quickly updated, our online "branch" will be a tool more useful and flexible than ever for everybody - for you, for us -, in order to keep you constantly up-to-date about our Festival, through both some immediately available new services and utilities, as well as some others to be added along the way. And, of course, any suggestions and critics will be welcome: we need them to improve more and more.
Well, then: new year, new office. And what else? Oh, yeah: a brand new website, too.
